Birth Of A Limelight Diamond

Limelight Diamonds: Real Diamonds, Ethically Grown with Advanced CVD Technology

Limelight Diamonds are 100% real lab grown diamonds, created above the earth using an advanced and eco-friendly method known as Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). This state-of-the-art technology replicates the natural diamond formation process that takes place deep within the Earth’s mantle. As a result, our lab grown diamonds are indistinguishable from natural diamonds in every way—physically, chemically, optically, and structurally.

How Are Lab Grown Diamonds Made? From Seed to Sparkle

The process of creating CVD diamonds begins with a natural diamond seed placed in a CVD plasma chamber. Here, conditions of intense heat and pressure—mimicking the natural environment beneath the Earth’s surface—are created. Hydrocarbon gases are introduced into the vacuum chamber, and under these precise conditions, carbon atoms deposit layer by layer, forming a pure, rough diamond over time. This answers the question: how are lab grown diamonds made—with science, sustainability, and precision.

CVD Diamond vs Natural Diamond: Identical Characteristics

Limelight Diamonds possess the same physical, optical, chemical, and thermal properties as mined diamonds. They adhere to the same stringent standards of the 4Cs – Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat. Whether you're comparing a CVD diamond vs a natural diamond or lab grown diamonds vs mined diamonds, you will find no difference in beauty, brilliance, or performance.

Just like a test-tube baby shares identical DNA with a naturally born child, CVD lab grown diamonds are 100% real, formed in a different environment but with the same essence. So if you're wondering, "Are lab grown diamonds real?" the answer is a confident yes.

Purity Redefined: The Elite Type IIa Lab Grown Diamonds

One key distinction of Limelight’s lab grown diamonds lies in their extraordinary purity. While 98% of natural diamonds contain nitrogen, CVD diamonds from Limelight are 100% carbon-composed and nitrogen-free. This classifies them as Type IIa diamonds, the purest form of diamond, a category shared by only 2% of all natural diamonds.

Certified by globally recognised gemological laboratories, these diamonds not only shine brighter but also carry a story of scientific brilliance and unmatched purity.

Our process

01

A thin layer of natural diamond is taken as the seed

02

The diamond seed is placed in the CVD plasma reactor

03

The same environment is re-created in the CVD reactor

04

Carbon disintegrates to form layers on the diamond seed

05

This results in a CVD rough diamond, same as a mined one

06

The cutting and polishing process is the same for both

07

CVD diamond is a Type IIa diamond; the purest type

08

It is 100% carbon composed with better shine and lustre

Our Standards

All Limelight diamonds are Type IIA. They are purely made of carbon and do not contain any nitrogen impurities. The shine, brightness & lustre of Type IIA diamonds are significantly better than any other diamond.

A Type IIA diamond in the mined counterpart is an extreme rarity as 98% of world’s mined diamonds have nitrogen impurity and are not the purest. As a result, the shine & brilliance of CVD diamonds is unmatched and rare to find in their mined counterparts. Our Koh-I-Noor was a Type IIA, nitrogen free diamond as well and was not only famous for the sheer size but also its flawless lustre!

Our Philosophy

We aim to redefine global elegance by establishing Limelight as a leading sustainable luxury jewellery brand. We are honoured to share a significant milestone in this journey: Limelight is now the first exclusive lab grown diamond jewellery brand from India to be globally certified as ESG+ compliant, proudly bearing the Butterfly Mark by Positive Luxury—a globally respected authority on sustainability for luxury brands.
